The Shimano 105 RD-R7000 11-speed rear derailleur was revised in order to reduce the shifting effort. Yet, it still works as reliably, fast and precisely as the rear derailleurs of the Shimano high-end groupsets Dura-Ace and Ultegra, which it shares all essential technologies with. The two versions with short and long cage leave you the choice between smaller gear ratio for riding in flat terrain, or larger gear ratio with reserves for steep roads. The Shadow RD design makes the rear derailleur more compact and provides more shifting stability. Moreover, it is closer to the frame, which ensures better protection of the component.
